Gone But Not Forgotten: Historic Photos from Harlingen's Lost Heritage

Gone But Not Forgotten is a special exhibit of 75 historic photos of Harlingen buildings that are no longer in existence.  It will be on view at D'Arte Centre, 115 E. Jackson in Downtown Harlingen from May 29th through June 27th, 2015.  D'Arte Centre, operated by the nonprofit Harlingen Art Forum, is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free and open to the public.

The exhibit includes photos of buildings that were torn down due to hurricane or fire damage, or to make way for new developments and parking lots.  It features images of early frame buildings in Harlingen's central business district as well as train depots, military facilities, churches, schools, hotels, theatres, and more.

The exhibit was organized by Downtown Harlingen in honor of National Preservation Month.  For more information, contact the Harlingen Downtown Office, (956) 216-4910.
